About the artist

Mohabbat written in Persian calligraphy

Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, June 1988.
Lives and works in Davis, California.

I’m not sure if I found art, or if art found me. There’s no memory of a beginning. Art has always been there, inseparable from life.

My work is an expression of the heart, inspired by the world-embracing teachings of the Bahá’í Faith. It seeks transcendence and strives to create meaning. Where some might see a chaotic mix of colors on a canvas, others will see that every drop of paint and stroke of the brush is purposefully placed, like letters of a word, to open a doorway to the soul.
